Booth Notes is manuscript prep for audiobook narrators. You work under NDA on books nobody has read yet, so the short version matters: your manuscripts are yours. The app works completely offline, we don't run ads or analytics, and nothing about you is sold or shared with anyone.
You can use Booth Notes without an account. If you never sign in, nothing ever leaves your device — there is no server holding your work, because you never gave us one.
Whether or not you sign in, Booth Notes stores everything you create in your device's own app storage:
Deleting the app from your device deletes all of it.
Signing in is optional and exists for one reason: so the same library appears on your iPad, your iPhone and your Mac. When you are signed in, the items listed above are copied to our cloud storage, provided by Supabase, and we also hold:
Your cloud copy is private to your account. Access is enforced at the database and file-storage level, so one account cannot read another's manuscripts, notes or recordings.
We use this information for exactly one purpose: making sync work. We do not use it for advertising, we do not profile you, and we do not share or sell it.
Sync is sold as a subscription through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card, your Apple ID or your purchase history. The app asks Apple's StoreKit on your device whether a subscription is active and keeps only that yes-or-no answer, on the device.
Booth Notes asks for microphone access so you can record a voice memo on a word — you saying the name the way you decided to say it. Recording only happens when you tap record. The audio is saved with that word, on your device, and copied to your cloud account only if you are signed in. It is never streamed anywhere, transcribed, or used to train anything.
The word editor offers shortcuts to look a word up on Forvo, YouGlish and Merriam-Webster. Nothing is sent to those sites unless you tap one of those buttons, and when you do, the only thing sent is the single word you are looking up. Those sites are independent of Booth Notes and have their own privacy policies.
Your cloud copy exists for as long as your account does. You can remove it at any time:
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold. In practice the app already gives you all four: your data is visible in the app, editable in the app, exportable with the backup button, and deletable with the account-deletion button. If you would rather ask a person, write to us at the address below and we will do it.
Booth Notes is a professional tool for narrators and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or why, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
